Rs.50 per 4G data

In a webinar by ET on Tuesday, Analysis Mason said by 2020 per GB of 4G data will cost Rs.50 with a telecom operator market share 17-18%. Now per GB of 4G costs Rs.228.Further report from the telcom firm’s study said that LTE usage per user would reach 6-7GB per month if 1GB 4G data costs Rs.50 in the country.Also 3G usage per user will rise upto 2GB data.

To support traffic while offering per GB 4G data for Rs.50 telecom operators requires significant amount of spectrum, including sun-GHz spectrum said consulting firm proprietary. It added that Indian Telecom industry will feature a few big telecom operators by 2020 that will have to keep an eye on annual capex of Rs.65-75 billion and opex of Rs.200-250 billion to support the data growth.

In 2020, 80% of India’s population use 4G data which will catalyzed by Reliance Jio’s to move to bring a VoLTE feature phone at Rs.500, a 4G variant. This feature phone may be launched on this October.With effect to feature phone most 2G subscrbers of Airtel,Vodafone will decline and move to 4G. Reliance Jio has aquired the users of other telcom alteast halfway in 4G. Now the same thing goona hide out 2G.
